Making hairdressing her career was a clear goal for Klaudia ever since she can remember. Born in Poland, she grew up in Mississauga where she styled her dolls’ hair as a child and created unique looks for herself in high school. “I was the one with extreme hair,” she laughs.

She joined Taz right after her training seven years ago, and since then, her determination to perfect her skills as a colourist have earned her industry recognition. With Taz owner Frank Cini, she won the regional colour trophy from L’Oreal in 2007. The following year she (and Taz’s Ewa Molanta) won the Mirror Award for the top Ontario salon team. That’s just the beginning, she says. “I want to compete to get better – to stay on top.”

Regular clients return faithfully because she builds a relationship with each person. “I think I listen well and try to cater to people’s needs,” she said.

Outside the salon, Klaudia uses her creative hands-on skills in other ways, making jewelery and renovating her new condo with help from her family. An avid reader, she especially enjoys memoirs and biographies. But she’s also inspired by her co-workers at Taz. “It seems so few people leave, we’re like one big family,” she said. “We have a close-knit relationship, but it’s fun as well.”
